Is there a data bulletin or manual available for the 8808 Econopak Wound Rotor Controllers?
See attachment. This device was a variable speed controller used on wound rotor motors from 50 to 2250hp and 240 to 4160vac. A small fixed resistance was installed in the secondary of the motor (typically for starting characteristics) but then SCRs where used to change the motor`s secondary characteristics (i.e., vary the secondary impedance). Also, the secondary was tied back to the line (via SCRs and a transformer) to provide regenerative breaking.
These devices are obsolete and there is no support for them. The application and customer requirements should be reviewed to determine if either a current production low or medium voltage adjustable speed drive or reduced voltage starter may be a suitable replacement.
