How do I connect the Kohler RES generators to the AGS
Kohler RES remote start wiring to the AGS
Kohler RES generators have a remote port located on the back side of the unit labeled Slot 3 and Slot 4. This is not a simple on/off setup. It actually requires a voltage signal to have the unit operate. The slot 3 is going to be the crank motor for the generator. Slot 4 of the generator is going to be the RUN/Stop signal for the unit. Here is a wiring schematic to connect the Kohler generator to the XW AGS. Please note that the Batt+ is connected as a common wire between XW AGS's wires 16 and 18; these connections are not made internally and must be done in order to have the system operational. WARNING : NO RUN SIGNAL REQUIRED. IN FACT, RUNNING A JUMPER FROM 16 to 13 AS OUTLINED IN THE MANUAL WILL CREATE DEAD SHORT, AS RELAYS ARE ACTIVE HIGH IN THE ATTACHED DIAGRAM! See attached.
