Ask a Question

When I change the amp rating of a breaker, are stickers available to mark the breaker with the new amp rating?

Product Line:
Circuit Breakers

Environment:
Powerpact P, R, and Masterpact NT and NW Circuit Breakers with these trip units:
Micrologic 2.0(A), 3.0(A), 5.0(A,P,H), 6.0(A,P,H)

Resolution:
No, stickers are not available to apply to the breaker when the amp rating has been changed. There is no requirement in UL or the NEC for the breaker to be marked with its adjusted ampacity. The reason is because any re-marking of the rating would not be reliable. The rating could be changed again at any time. The breaker does show how to calculate the amp rating, and for the above breakers the formula is shown on the trip unit Rating Plug Long-Time Dial (Ir dial setting x In).
