Our group has successfully completed numerous electrical projects over the past decade and has a proven record of innovative and creative design.
Dease Lake
Dease Lake is a 3 megawatt water wheel that is Islanded, or not tied to a utility. The difficulty with commissioning a waterwheel when the generator is not tied to the utility is finding acceptable frequency / voltage recovery for motor starting and short circuit transient conditions. Elite Engineering was responsible for testing and commissioning the protection, control, and electrical portion of mechanical interfaces. Valuable knowledge of PLC, hydraulic power units, jets, and deflectors was gained through the commissioning and verification steps. A 100% load resistive and reactive load bank was used to determine the step and rejection tests. |

Brilliant & Warfield Substations
Elite Engineering provided commissioning services for the site 230 kV and 69 kV breakers, current transformers, lightning arrestors, potential transformer, motorized load break switches, and DC systems as well as Ground Grid studies were performed.
Doran - Taylor - Port Albernie
The 69 kV incoming high voltage breaker, 6/8 MVA transformer, and secondary 4.2 kV breaker's protection and control systems were all commissioned by Elite Engineering. Elite Engineering also provided the coordination study, and ground grid evaluation. Doran Taylor is a IPP (Independent Power Producer), half way between Port Alberni and Tofino, on Vancouver Island. |

B.C. Hydro - Jordan River
Elite Engineering provided the testing and verification of all the feeder overcurrent, distance, and generator protection systems for the B.C. Hydro owned and operated Jordan River Hydro Plant. The plant is a water wheel rated at 170 megawatts, 13.8 kV step up to 138 kV Distribution.
Brown Lake
Elite Engineering was responsible for commissioning an 8 MVA transformer, breaker, protection relaying, and submarine cable for a 69 kV electrical system coupling a water wheel to the utility. Brown Lake is a IPP south of Prince Rupert. |

Sechelt Creek Hydro Plant
Elite Engineering has provided many reviews of the electrical system, protection, voltage regulation, surge protection, and other electrical systems of Sechelt Creek Hydro Plant. Sechelt Creek is two turbines using four horizontal jets, the machines are rated at a total of 16 megawatts, with an interconnect voltage of 138 kV.
Soo River Hydro Plant
Soo River Hydro plant provides 14 megawatts of power to the Town of Whistler at an interconnect voltage level of 25 kV. Elite Engineering has provided all the maintenance, Electrical Engineering, and Service work at this facility since original construction in 1994. |

Marion Creek
Elite Engineering Limited has provided a complete water to wire package for Marion Creek. Marion is a 69kV, 4.5MW Pelton Turbine. The entire electrical package was Engineered and commissioned by Elite Engineering.
South Sutton
As with Marion Creek, a complete water to wire package was provided for South Sutton Run of the River plant by Elite. South Sutton is a 69kV, 5.4MW Pelton Turbine. Again the entire electrical package was Engineered and commissioned by Elite Engineering.
Department of National Defense
Elite Engineering provided the design for the HMCS Victoria Submarine Project. This project uses a single machine to provide the following functions:
- Charge the submarine's batteries, 2400 amps, and control the voltage from 420 VDC up to 750 VDC.
- Discharge the submarine's batteries, 2400 amps - 480 VDC.
- Load Bank Trial the ships Diesels, five steps of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and 110% of ship generators capacity.
Elite Engineering also provided a design build 1.25 MW load bank, c/w auto select voltage for variable voltage inputs.
