    By completing a full arc flash analysis, a company can improve workplace safety without resorting to worst-case scenario guesswork. The assessment activity provides the background necessary to make intelligent safety decisions. Simply selecting the highest category level of arc flash personal protective equipment (PPE) is a poor choice. In most instances such a level of protection is not required and would be cumbersome to work in. It is also possible that in some instances even such a level of protection may not be adequate. Until an analysis is done, the employer and worker cannot be sure.
  • Applications

    As per CSA Z462, Arc Flash Hazard Analysis must be updated when a major renovation or modification takes place. At a minimum, it should be reviewed every five years because changes in the electrical distribution system could affect the results of the arc flash hazard analysis.
